![]() ![]() ![]() Let me know if I missed anything, or added to your questions. The video station application on the Synology NAS platform is still first class, giving the likes of subscription access on Plex Media Server and Plex Pass. Plex is a really good software but today is not fully compatible with our Nas. To stream multimedia contents from your Synology NAS to DMA devices for playback, you need to configure media. These devices are DLNA/UPnP-compliant DMAs. Plex doesn't make that real clear, but if you SSH into that folder, you will see "stay out" messages from Plex. To be honest I use both solutions on my Nas. Synology NAS can serve as a multimedia server on the local area network, allowing home devices, such as TVs/stereo systems and Sony PlayStation3/Xbox 360, to play its multimedia contents. ![]() The shared folder "Plex" is not to be used for anything. Running the Plex Media Server application, even when no multimedia is being played on the DS1522+ is still going to require a of system resources to be occupied, in order to ensure that PLEX can play media from the Synology NAS as soon as it is requested remotely. For this folder, I gave Plex read-write access. I created a separate shared folder for this optimized content (I named it "optimized"). I recommend that Plex has read-only access to your media files, as I see little reason for Plex to edit or delete those files.įor 2 tv series, I have Plex pre-transcode the next 3 unwatched episodes (Plex calls this "optimize" IIRC). Within that, I created subfolders for each individual TV series (according to Plex's recommended naming structure). In my case, I added a TV library within Plex. Many Plex users have problems playing 4k XAVC videos on Plex, if you so, just read this guide to Container: MP4 Resolution: 3840×2160 or smaller Video Encoding: HEVC (H Cons: I found it’s stuttering on large MKV files Plex 5KPlayer latest version: All-in-one media player and downloader This should work, but it is a lot of trouble trying to. If you don't have that folder, you could create a new shared folder "media" and add subfolders for TV Shows, Movies, Music, etc. For example, most of my media resides in the shared folder "video" that was created by Video Station (before I moved to Plex). ![]()
